Shabby or Chic Fireplace Redo
Shabby Cheap to Much Better
So I hopped off my soap box and hopped on the painting wagon and look what I accomplished yesterday...

Yes I decided to paint the tacky fireplace in a warmer, creamy colored white

with the warmer white it doesn't blend into the wall, remains a focal point with interest without being in your face...look at me..look at me! Doesn't it look soooo much better? It was definitely worth it.

I also managed to paint two frames so hubby can put mirror in them. All of that in 6 and a half hours.( I really couldn't face my computer one more day, i needed a break and I am almost done with new website.) Note to anyone who paints this kind of brick, it took a half a gallon, use a cheap brush you don't mind ruining because I found that pouncing the paint on was a much more efficient way and only took one coat to cover. If I had brushed it I would still be painting and roller would have been far to messy. This kind of brick has lots of nooks and crannies and the grout was really rough. Be sure to use a stiff brush and brush down brick first to get off loose bits, vacuum then wash off, I used an old wet towel. I don't tape or use drop cloths if I don't have to. I am really all about instant gratification in my own home.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your moments,

Won`t it turn black first time you use it? Hope NOT! Looks Nice!

Thank you Mar, no the insert keeps the soot and smoke off the brick and if it ever does I can just wipe it off because I never use paint without a washable finish.
