A Modern Sofa Mini Makeover

tuxedo sofa

I am a pro at making things look really good when they are in less than perfect condition. I used to call it camouflage while the kiddos were growing up and company was coming, to hide our family living faux pas. I use it now when I need to see my vision before I start a restoration or rehab project.

There was nothing pretty about this sofa except it had the "modernish" lines that I love. It came with a skirt attached but the skirts are always the first thing to go. I will also be replacing the legs because the sofa is way to low to get in and out of, age can definitely change your mind about cool vs. comfort and this one is a personal project.

It is on my list of projects and while it waits on its turn it will get a mini makeover in 2 stages. The mini makeovers help me to work out the details of the plan I have for the pieces I work on.

I was digging through my boxes of fabric and linens for inspiration and found a stack of matelass√© curtain panels leftover from a previous style change. I kept them thinking that I could use them on another project like a slipcover for a sofa.

This is where the mini makeover comes in, I tucked a couple in and tossed a couple of pillows and that sofa is looking much better in white and it only took 15 mins.

I am definitely going with an all white sofa so making an actual slipcover will be an added bonus and easier to keep clean.

Next step: making the slipcover.

Stay tuned ... XO
